As a Solstice customer, you continue to receive your electricity from your utility provider as usual, but we save you money! Soon after your share of a community solar farm begins producing energy, you start receiving solar credits on your monthly utility bills for the solar energy you generated.
Each credit is applied as a deduction on your Xcel bill. The credit can be found listed in both the "Summary of Current Charges" and "Other Recurring Charges Details" sections of your bill - please note these sections may also include credits or charges unrelated to your community solar subscription. You can find more information about locating your credit in this article.
You pay Solstice for each credit you receive at a 10.25% discounted rate, ensuring you always save on your monthly electric costs.
Here's the breakdown of the process:
- Your credit will be applied to your monthly Xcel bills.
- You will receive separate invoices from Solstice approximately 1-2 months after each credit is applied. Invoices detail the credit you previously received on your Xcel bill and the 10.25% discounted charge you owe Solstice for that credit.
- Solstice will charge you via autopay from the default payment method linked to your Solstice account.
As an example, if you receive a $100 community solar credit on your Xcel bill, Xcel would deduct that amount from what you owe them. Around 1-2 months later, Solstice would send you an invoice for the credit applied to that utility bill, but with a 10.25% discount. This is where the savings come from! With the discount applied, you would pay Solstice $89.75 for the credit you previously received on your Xcel bill. This means that overall, your net savings in one month would be $10.25.
These savings add up over the course of your subscription! You can see your savings, your positive environmental impact, and much more by logging in to your Solstice account at app.solstice.us to review your dashboard.
