Soon after your share of a community solar farm begins producing energy, you begin receiving solar credits on your monthly Ameren bills in exchange for the solar energy that was generated.
Each credit you receive is applied as a deduction on your electric bill alongside a 50% discounted charge for the credit - this ensures you still always save money each month by being a Solstice customer! Though we aim to cover as much of your typical annual electric cost as possible, please note your community solar savings may not always fully cover what you owe for your electric costs.
In the sample Ameren bill below, you can see the solar energy generated appears in the "Usage Summary" section of the bill. The credit appears in the "Electric Supply" section with both the kWh usage and the credit value for that usage in the amount of $1,371.24.
Please note your actual Ameren bill will include the usage and credit in the same sections, but the line items may be named differently. In addition to the credit, your bill will also include the 50% discounted charge for the credit in the "Electric Supply" section.
In this example, the customer received a $1,371.24 community solar credit on their Ameren bill. With the 50% discounted charge added, the customer would pay $685.62 for that credit. This means the customer's net savings on this bill for being a Solstice customer would also be $685.62.
Around 1-2 months after you receive each credit, Solstice sends you a credit explainer to detail how much you saved. You can see your savings, positive environmental impact, and much more by logging in to your Solstice account at app.solstice.us.
