How does billing between NYSEG and Solstice work?

As a Solstice customer, you continue to receive your electricity from your utility provider as usual, but we save you money! Soon after your share of a community solar farm begins producing energy, you start receiving solar credits on your monthly utility bills for the solar energy you generated.

Each credit you receive is applied as a deduction from your total electric cost on your NYSEG bill. You'll find your community solar credit and the associated charge in the "Miscellaneous Charges" section of your bill. For more information about locating your credit and the charge on your NYSEG bill, please see this article.

Here's how the process works:

  • Your credit and the discounted charge will both be applied to your monthly NYSEG bills.
  • You will receive credit explainers from Solstice approximately 1-2 months after each credit is applied. Credit explainers are statements that detail the credit and charge NYSEG previously applied to your bill.
