If you're enrolled on a consolidated billing project, meaning you do not receive a bill from Solstice, please see this separate article for more information about locating your credit.
Soon after your share of a community solar farm begins producing energy, you begin receiving solar credits on your monthly O&R electric bills. Each credit is applied as a deduction, which helps you save on your electric costs! Though we aim to cover as much of your typical annual electric cost as possible, your monthly credit may not always fully cover what you owe to your utility.
You’ll find the total credit applied as a negative dollar amount in the section titled "Your Bill Breakdown" at the top of your bill. It will be listed as an adjustment, as shown highlighted in yellow in the example bill below. Please note other credits or charges may be included as an adjustment - you can see details of what's included in the "Adjustment Information" section.
More details about your community solar credit can be found in the section of your bill titled "Your Electric Breakdown," as shown in the example below.
Details of each line are as follows:
- "Current Billed kWh" is the full generated amount applied to the current bill.
- "Prior Bank Balance" is excess solar generation carried over from previous months. This may accrue when the solar energy generated exceeds your electric usage that month. The excess amount may be included in the "Current Billed kWh" amount to help cover your electric costs if the current month's solar generation is low.
- "Current Month kWh Allocation" is what your share of the solar farm generated for the current bill period.
- "Total Bank Balance" is the remaining excess solar generation available to be applied as a credit to future bills when applicable.
- "Total Applied Credit" is the total generated amount applied to the current bill as a negative dollar value. This is the amount deducted from your electric costs. Please note that credits can only be applied up to the total cost of your electric charges (plus any related taxes) for the current bill period.
About 1-2 months after each community solar credit has been applied to your O&R bills, Solstice will email you an invoice. As a reminder, you pay Solstice at a 10% discount for each credit you receive!
