How does billing between JCP&L and Solstice work?

As a Solstice customer, you continue to receive your electricity from your utility provider as usual, but we save you money! Soon after your share of a community solar farm begins producing energy, you start receiving solar credits on your monthly utility bills for the energy generated by your share of the community solar farm.

Here's how the process works:

  • Your credit will be applied to your monthly JCP&L bills.
  • You will receive separate invoices from Solstice approximately 1-2 months after each credit is applied. Invoices detail the credit you previously received on your JCP&L bill and the discounted charge you owe Solstice for that credit.
  • Solstice will charge you via autopay from the default payment method linked to your Solstice account.

Each credit you receive is applied as a deduction from your total electric cost on your JCP&L bill. You'll find the negative dollar value of your community solar credit in the "Charges From JCP&L" section of your bill, as shown in the sample bill below.

You then pay Solstice for each credit at a 21% discount, ensuring you always save on your monthly electric costs. Using the sample bill above with a $178.78 credit, this means you would pay Solstice $141.24, leaving you saving $37.54 in one month! As a reminder, this is only an example.
