Can I be a Solstice customer if I have a budget billing plan with JCP&L?

Unfortunately, you cannot be a Solstice customer if you’re enrolled in a budget billing plan with JCP&L.

Here’s why:

  • JCP&L is unable to add community solar credit deductions to budget bill payments on a monthly basis. Instead, credits are applied on an annual basis when budget bill plans are trued up.
  • Though JCP&L can only apply community solar credits annually to electric bills, customers are still required to pay Solstice for their credits on a monthly basis. This can lead to a financial burden for customers.

If you would like to be a Solstice community solar subscriber, you would need to disenroll from your budget billing plan with JCP&L. By disenrolling, please be aware that you would no longer make a fixed monthly payment to JCP&L - you would continue to pay JCP&L every month, but your payments would vary based on your actual electric usage. Please contact JCP&L if you wish to disenroll from budget billing before enrolling with Solstice.
