Soon after your share of a community solar farm begins producing energy, you begin receiving solar credits on your monthly JCP&L electric bills.
Each credit is applied as a deduction alongside your discounted subscription fee for the credit. Your subscription fee will always be less than the credit itself, ensuring you are always saving! Please keep in mind that while we aim to cover as much of your typical annual electric cost as possible, your monthly credit may not always fully cover what you owe to your utility.
You'll find your community solar details in the "Community Solar Usage Information" and "Charges From JCP&L" section of your bill, as shown in the sample bill below.
In the sample bill above, the subscriber's contracted discount rate is 21%. This means the subscription fee is always 21% of the credit, which left the subscriber with a total of $23.30 net community solar savings on the bill.
The dollar value of a credit is calculated from JCP&L's electric rates and the solar kWh usage listed in the "Community Solar Usage Information" section of the bill. If you have banked (excess) usage from previous months that could not be applied to previous bills, the banked value may be applied to the current or upcoming bill when applicable - this is done when the current month's solar energy production falls short of the current month's electric usage.
