Soon after your share of a community solar farm begins producing energy, you begin receiving solar credits on your monthly JCP&L electric bills.
Each credit is applied as a deduction, which helps you save on your electric costs! Though we aim to cover as much of your typical annual electric cost as possible, your monthly credit may not always fully cover what you owe to your utility.
You'll find your community solar credit in the "Charges From JCP&L" section of your bill listed as a negative dollar value, as shown in the sample bill below.
The dollar value of your credit is calculated from JCP&L's electric rates and the solar kWh usage listed in the "Community Solar Usage Information" section of your bill. If you have banked (excess) usage from previous months that could not be applied to previous bills, the banked value may be applied to the current or upcoming bill when applicable - this is done when the current month's solar energy production falls short of the current month's electric usage, as shown in the sample bill above.
