As a Solstice customer, you continue to receive your electricity from your utility provider as usual, but we save you money! Soon after your share of a community solar farm begins producing energy, you start receiving solar credits on your monthly utility bills for the solar energy you generated.
Each credit you receive is applied as a deduction from your electric costs on your ComEd bill. You'll find your community solar credit in the "Renewable Community Supply Details" section of your bill.
You pay for each credit you receive at a discounted rate, ensuring you always save on your monthly electric costs. You can find your specific discounted rate in your Solstice contract, which can be accessed through your online Solstice account.
If you're enrolled on a two-bill project, meaning you receive a bill from ComEd and Solstice:
- Your credit will be applied to your monthly ComEd bills.
- You will receive separate invoices from Solstice approximately 1-2 months after each credit is applied. Invoices detail the credit you previously received on your ComEd bill and the discounted charge you owe Solstice for that credit. For more information about Solstice invoices, please see this article.
- Solstice will charge you via autopay from the default payment method linked to your Solstice account.
If you're enrolled on a consolidated billing project, meaning you do not receive a separate bill from Solstice:
- Your credit and the discounted charge will both be applied to your monthly ComEd bills.
- You will receive credit explainers from Solstice approximately 1-2 months after each credit is applied. Credit explainers are statements (not bills) that detail the credit and charge ComEd previously applied to your bill.
