What is the community solar charge on my National Grid bill?

*If you receive a separate bill from Solstice for your community solar credits, this article does not apply to you.

Soon after your share of a community solar farm begins producing energy, you begin receiving solar credits on your monthly National Grid electric bills. A discounted charge for the credit is also applied to your bill.

Each credit is applied as a deduction and you pay for each credit at a 10% discounted rate - this way, you still save on your electric costs! Though we aim to cover as much of your typical annual electric cost as possible, your monthly credit may not always fully cover what you owe to your utility.

On your National Grid bill:

  • You'll find your community solar credit in the electricity "Delivery Services" and "Other Charges/Adjustments" sections of your bill, as shown in the sample bill below. The credit will be labeled as "CDG Credit - Applied To This Bill."
  • Your bill will also include the 10% discounted charge for your credit. The charge is labeled as "CDG Subscription Fee." Other information related to your community solar credits is included on your bill as well, each of which is detailed in the sample bill below.
  • The difference between your credit applied and the subscription fee is your net savings for being a Solstice customer!
