When will I receive my community solar credits after enrolling?

There are a lot of moving parts between when you enroll with Solstice and when you begin seeing community solar credits applied to your utility bill. It can take several months for this process to play out.

Here's a breakdown:

  1. When you sign up with Solstice at any given time, we ensure your profile is complete and decide how many panels to allocate you based on your annual electric usage.

  2. Before you receive the benefits of your solar farm, your allocation size needs to be submitted to your utility once Solstice determines how many panels to allocate you. Most utilities allow Solstice to send a report that details the allocation of each customer on the project once a month. If you're fully enrolled and your solar farm is already active, you should see credits in 2-3 months. If your solar farm is not already active, you will not see credits until it begins to energize - this may not happen until several months after you enroll. You will not see changes related to Solstice on your utility bill until you receive community solar credits.

  3. Approximately 1-2 months after you have seen the credit applied to your utility bill, you will either receive an invoice or a credit explainer from Solstice detailing the credit value of the solar energy produced and your charge for the credit. Remember, you pay Solstice at a discount for the solar credit you received on your utility bill. That means that the price you pay Solstice should always be lower than the monetary amount of the credit deducted from your utility bill.
